The top
builders in Noida can learn a great deal from the example of Tokyo, a city
which is arguably the largest in the world
yet at the same time is immaculately clean and well planned. Despite being
reduced to ash in the Second World War, Tokyo today is perhaps the best example
of the genius of the Japanese, their work ethic, and perseverance. Japan was
devastated by the Second World War and since before WW2 most of the buildings
in Tokyo had been constructed using wood the city succumbed to American
bombings and much of Tokyo was reduced to ash. Today however Tokyo rivals or
even surpasses the likes of New York and Paris with the quality of its physical
infrastructure and in the quality of homes and buildings in the city. Although
India was colonized, it was never obliterated as were Japan and Germany at the
end of the last world war, however, both
these nations went on to become industrial giants and today are the leaders in
many of the world’s most important industries, especially high-value heavy industry.
One could
argue that since Japan was never fully colonized it was able to recoup the loss
in manpower and materials it incurred during the Second World War and still go
on to become an industrial giant which has neat and exceptionally clean cities.
The same case could be made for the success of Germany which also suffered a
tremendous loss of life and property. However the opposite case can also be
made that these nations went on to become economic superpowers because they
first built clean cities and neat homes as industry in Japan and Germany did
not fully recover from the devastation of the second world war until the end of
the 1970’s which was when their industries become the juggernauts they are
today. In effect, both Japan and Germany
had clean and efficient cities before they become industrial giants. If the
former case is true then this is great news Indeed for India as all we have to
do is clean up our cities and then we too will likely become as prosperous and
industries as Japan is today. If the property in Noida looked spic and span and
the roads were immaculate and free from potholes
then there would be a benign impact upon those who live in Noida as well as on
visitors who may consider investing in the city due to its plush and tidy
appearance. Japanese cities may too be best described as tidy. Residential
projects in Noida may be built with greater care to give onlookers the
impression that they have been built after great consideration and with an
attention to detail.
The
architecture in Japan differs vastly from the architecture in New York. As a
simple example, Japan has far fewer
skyscrapers than most large western cities and building in Japan tend to not at
all be as tall as buildings in America. However,
Japanese cities are often spread out over a larger distance than even American
cities. These are the urban aesthetics which the Japanese find the most complementary
to their culture. We also shall eventually have to find the modern lifestyle
and architecture which best complements our culture, then we may have luxury
flats in Noida which we find pleasing to look upon and roads which are just
the right size for the kinds of vehicles we prefer to drive. A 1 BHK flat in
Noida Extension in the future may be desirable to many of us if it is
constructed with a consideration of the kind of home we would like to live in
rather than as part of large residential projects in Noida which are rapidly
constructed to be sold at the highest possible price.
